Can "that's a great question" be used only by successful guys?

I’ve heard this from successful guys so much, like Steve Jobs. it looked cool. So when someone asked me something, I said, "That’s a great question." But I felt like it was fucking cringe. I felt ashamed. Is it because it sounds cool only when a successful guy says it, but awkward when an ordinary person says it?

You can't just say "That's a great question" and move on, it needs to be used as a transition into a broader, nuanced answer to the question.
