Most people don’t understand my Indian accent

I’m kinda concerned about it—when I meet people from other countries, they can barely understand what I’m saying. I’m trying to use an American accent that most people use, but my Indian accent is so natural that I can’t really change it. I heard that Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, still uses his Indian accent. Should I try to change, or just keep using it?

Are Indian accents kinda hard for people to understand compared to others? I don’t know, maybe I'm just so accustomed to them.

@Curry I can't speak for others but for me it takes considerable effort to understand someone speaking with a thick indian accent (and other thick accents too honestly). Personally it's always easier for me to try and understand someone speaking in their native language than someone speaking heavily-accented english.
