I looked into Discord a bit because I’ve heard they’re planning an IPO.
Discord is a platform where users chat about different topics through servers.
Discord doesn’t really have ads, except for optional video ads that give you avatar items as a reward.
Instead, they rely on a premium subscription called Nitro. To be honest, I don’t really feel the need to subscribe because the benefits are pretty weak.
I can tell Discord is well made, but unless they introduce always-on ads, I’m skeptical. I feel like it could end up as a v2 Duolingo, where users don’t really feel why they should subscribe.
