Why do people hate Bill Gates?

I get that big tech billionaires are easy targets but the Gates hate always felt weird to me. 
Windows basically put a computer in every house and made the internet usable for normal people. Without that push we would not have had the same explosion of online culture, forums, games, and everything we take for granted now.

Most of the time the criticism I see is vague or just conspiracy stuff about vaccines or control that isn't true

Most of the hate now has nothing to do with Microsoft and everything to do with vaccine conspiracy brain rot lol(Edited)

Because he's the same as every other tech billionaire, maybe even worse. He did the same things as they do now. The only difference is that he had to be less obvious about it back then because things weren't so extreme yet as they are today.
I think it's fair to say that everything that's wrong with online culture, forums, games, and everything we take for granted now directly stems from/is caused by him, steve jobs, larry ellison and their ilk.

Might be worth your while to actually do some research into computer history. bill gates didn't invent the personal computer (or selling them to normal people for that matter) and he's certainly not the one that made the internet usable for normal people. He just appropriated the technology, exploited the market, and heavily propagandized and still propagandizes himself as the person you think he is.

The stories you've been told were invented and are propagated by the ultrawealthy and their pr teams to purport themselves and their kind as the smart guys and, above all, the good guys; they are most definitely not.

It's an incredible feat and a testament to the power of marketing and pr that the negative sentiment about him and his kind has been reduced to "just some conspiracy stuff about vaccines and control".

Yes Bill Gates didn’t invent the personal computer. People sometimes think he did.
