Apartments beat houses in real life

Anonymous·7mo
Houses are sold as the dream but they are basically a second job you pay for. Lawn, roof, plumbing, pests, wasp nests, endless chores. An apartment is simple. You lock the door and live your life. Also the security is usually better. Controlled entry, cameras, neighbors close by, sometimes even staff.

It's okay to have different priorities than other people. Houses are more work but also allow you to store equity into an asset that you can later sell at a profit. Do you want your place of living to be an investment you pay into or a comfort you pay for? Depends on where you are in life.

You act like apartments never get sold. Apartments build equity too, you know. People sell apartments for profit all the time.

@Anonymous The demand for houses is basically unlimited, while demand for apartments is more limited.

I think you are overlooking the value of DIY. It is one of my hobbies. In an apartment DIY is pretty limited. I would not be able to fully decorate my place for Halloween or Christmas.
