Feels like once Google went all in, a lot of AI startups stopped looking like the future and started looking like a feature Google will ship for free.
I get why Google keeps catching antitrust heat. They do not just compete, they turn entire categories into defaults.
Even vibe coding tools show it. Not long ago it was basically Cursor and Windsurf at the top. Now OpenAI is pushing Codex and Google is dropping Antigravity and suddenly the space feels like it belongs to two giants. The startup scene turns into a race where the biggest companies can ship similar features fast, price it aggressively, and push it to massive user bases overnight.
Google joining the AI race kinda killed most AI startups
